How dogs learn is a topic too long to completely cover here. So this brief explanation will give you a quickie on what to expect of yourself, your dog and your overall progress.
Of the three stages of learning, the easiest is the first and third. You will be spending most of your time in the generalization stage. Some dogs will get there faster and some slower depending on a number of factors.
With every new thing you teach your dog and during this program, you are working in the dog training stage. Once mastered you will begin some dog training generalization as you begin to add distance, duration and distractions.
For now just remember to enjoy the training because it only gets more and more fun!
